Today, my photojournalism classmates and I photographed and live-blogged our best images from Rochester Institute of Technology’s Imagine RIT. Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival is a campus-wide event that showcases the innovative and creative spirit of RIT students, faculty and staff. Along with photographing the above images, I also served as an editor, picking out and processing my classmates images and posting them to our website RIT Image Nation. The Roc City Tattoo Expo toke place this weekend at the Radisson Rochester Riverside Hotel where patrons were able to view art by tattoo artists from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan, as well as Rochester’s own talents. They were also able to get inked by a local or foreign artist or just show support for their favorite tattoo artist at the event.
The Wegmans Family 5K and Half Marathon took place Sunday, April 29th 2012 in Rochester, NY drawing almost 4,000 runners of all ages. Kiplangam Tisia, 24, of Rochester was the overall finisher of the half-marathon, beating last year’s winner by about five minutes. His time was 1:04:56 —a pace of 4:57 per mile.
Million Hoodie March for Trayvon Martin- March 25th, 2012
As many as 1,000 people took a stand against violence in honor of Trayvon Martin, a Florida teenager who was killed by a community watch member last month. People from Rochester met at the Liberty Pole at 3pm and marched to the Federal Building, calling for justice against Trayvon’s killer, George Zimmerman. “We stand together because one voice doesn’t get heard. But a crowd of voices you can’t ignore.”
